Thrive Commerce is seeking a highly qualified Digital Transformation Specialist with a PhD in Digital Transformation, Technology Adoption, Innovation, or a related field. The Specialist will play a critical role in driving digital transformation across MSMEs in the Caribbean, enhancing their resilience and competitiveness in the post-COVID digital economy.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This position involves working closely with national governments, Business Support Organizations (BSOs), Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs), and private sector firms to craft and implement effective digital adoption policies and strategies. The role also includes a focus on developing a comprehensive digital services marketplace to support regional MSMEs in technology adoption and innovation.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Digital Adoption Policy Development: Craft and implement policies facilitating digital adoption at the firm level, focusing on promoting a digital-first business approach.Analysis of Digital Maturity: Study digital technology adoption services and maturity across Caribbean MSMEs, identifying gaps and barriers to successful adoption, with recommendations for targeted support.Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with BSOs, SBDCs, and regional policymakers to assess and address the needs for digital adoption and innovation, ensuring alignment with the Caribbean Digital Transformation Institute (DTI).Roadmap Creation: Develop a detailed implementation roadmap for operationalizing digital adoption policies and strategies, complete with timelines, responsible parties, and performance indicators.Final Reporting: Compile a comprehensive report, including a regional summary and country-specific recommendations, that addresses international best practices and tailored strategies for Caribbean nations.WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
PhD in Digital Transformation, Technology Adoption, Innovation, or a closely related field.5+ years of experience in supporting private sector digital transformation, e-commerce adoption, technology implementation, and innovation.Project Management Certification is a strong asset.Proven experience in policy development and strategy implementation within digital transformation contexts.Strong knowledge of regional trade agreements and experience with national trade promotion organizations or other BSOs.Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.Fluent in English, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ProjecKEY SKILLS
Deep expertise in digital transformation and technology adoption strategies.
Strong analytical skills to assess digital maturity and gaps within firms.Ability to design and implement scalable policies and strategies to support digital adoption.Proficiency in conducting infrastructure assessments and identifying financial support mechanisms for MSMEs.Experience creating databases of service providers for digital innovatioBONUS POINTS
- Global. Previous exposure or significant stakeholdership in driving Digital Transformation in private sector, is a plus.
